I was a bit under the weather this weekend. In addition to overall malaise, I had some stomach issues as well. I decided to make some soursop tea. This tea is made with the leaves of the soursop tree. The tea has many health benefits: lowers blood pressure, boosts the immune system, protects the skin, aids in weight loss, improves digestion, soothes inflammation, and some believe helps prevent or slow down cancer.
The leaves are a rich source of Vitamin C, and it’s particularly helpful with digestive issues which is why I made it. The tea is simple to make. Boil 15 fresh leaves in gallon of water. Once boiling, reduce heat and low boil until the water is reduced in half. The tea is then ready to drink. It’s recommended that you drink 3 cups per day. It’s always good to check with your doctor if you are taking any kind of medication and are concerned about how this tea may interact with it.
The tea itself is mild with a slightly sweet taste, and can be consumed either hot or cold.
