Description
Kalōpā Makai Artisan Soaps are made entirely by hand using ingredients sourced from our Hawai’i farm. These soaps are made with hibiscus grown sustainably without the use of pesticides or herbicides. This soap is made with a very specific type of hibiscus, Roselle. Native to Africa, it can now be found all over the world, including Hawaii. The calyces are the part of the plant that is used in making our soap. Once the flower has bloomed and closed, these calyces are hand picked and dried on property. It is a somewhat tedious process, but the results are well worth the effort. In making the soap, the dried calyces are chopped and then added to give the soap a light scrub. In addition, we make a tea from the calyces and this tea forms the base of our soap. Like all soaps made here, no artificial scents are added.
